Artist / Helen Lundeberg

Helen Lundeberg was a profound thinker who started to paint and as such her work presents a highly intellectual response to art.

She was interested in nature, but not specifically in flowers or vegetables, in all of nature, from the smallest crustacean in the sea to the largest planet in the sky.

Indeed, Lundeberg was a dynamic personality and as she sought to investigate and understand life in all aspects, great energy bursts forth from her canvases.

At the same time however, she was a rigorous and careful scientist making what seems like a contradiction - to unite passion and control - in fact a very good fit.

Frost’s paintings play on the relationship between bodies of water, buildings, roads, cars and vast skies through a communication of colour, light and reflective qualities. He builds up thick, luscious layers of paint to give his works a highly appealing tactile quality.

Artist / Daniel Horowitz

Drawing inspiration from Théodore de Bry’s (1528-1598) prints of « Savages » in his Great and Small Voyages, in this new body of work Daniel Horowitz explores the tenuous relationship of the self and other. Created at the Cité internationale des arts, these artworks serve as a re-probing of the « savage mind » that is within all of us and so dear to Claude Lévi-Strauss. The “canvas collages” are meticulously "customized“ with the help of a sewing machine, summoning a collective memory and forming a metaphysical topography of the human soul, something that Daniel Horowitz continues to investigate in his work.
